Departmental Facilities

Study space

There is unallocated space in the postgraduate study area in the Berrick Saul building. The Humanities Research Centre (HRC) will provide instructions on how to apply for an allocated desk if you will spend a large amount of time in the space. There is unallocated departmental space available in Vanbrugh C Block (V/C/106). If you would like a key to this space, please visit the front office. We do our best to give everyone access to study space which works for them. Some students may prefer to work in the library.

You will be given keycard access to the relevant parts of Berrick Saul and Vanbrugh. If you have any questions about your access, or issues with it, please contact the PG Administrator in the first instance.

If you find that you are not using the space assigned to you, please let our PG Administrator know so that the space can be reassigned.

In addition to your study space, from time to time you may be attending training events in our Forensic Speech Science lab (V/B/022), our e-lab (V/B/023), or some other technologically equipped rooms on campus.

Central facilities

For information on central facilities such as the Library and IT services, please see the York Graduate Research School handbook.

The IT Services web pages include information about Google Drive, which is a digital storage facility that is offered to all students registered at York. The Department recommends that you store your work and your data in your Google Drive, which offers good access and security.
