Hate crime is any criminally chargeable offence which is considered, by the victim, to be motivated by prejudice based on a certain personal characteristic(s).
A hate incident is any incident which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, but is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a personal characteristic(s).
The characteristics are disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender or misogyny.
