Every person’s self-care is different, so this guide can’t tell you what to do. That said, we’ve included some resources on self-care that may be useful.
Yale-Specific Resources
Other than Yale Mental Health, Yale has a number of resources for people who need support.
Walden Peer Counseling offers a phone hotline (203-432-TALK) from 8pm to 8am and in-person counseling for walk-ins from 8pm to 1am.
For first-years, the Peer Liaisons program provides programming and one-on-one mentorship. There are Peer Liaisons through the Office of LGBTQ Resources, the University Chaplain’s Office, the Office of International Students and Scholars, the Afro-American Cultural Center, the Asian American Cultural Center, the La Casa Latino Cultural Center, and the Native American Cultural Center (it is common to have multiple PLs from the different offices/cultural centers).
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors can sign up to be matched with one of the Spectrum Fellows, who will be providing similar support to the Office of LGBTQ Resources Peer Liaisons.
The Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education Center provides online resources, a 24/7 phone hotline (203-432-2000), and in-person support for people dealing with recent and past experiences by appointment or walk-in during business hours.
Community Consent Educators are students trained to talk about issues surrounding sexual misconduct.
