Groups Explicitly By and For Trans People

• Trans@Yale: We are a registered student organization dedicated to both community-building and activism on behalf of Yale’s trans/nonbinary folk. Follow our Instagram @transatyale to keep in touch about what's going on with us! We'll also plug things in the trans/nonbinary/two-spirit GroupMes. Although an undergraduate organization, we seek to serve the broader transgender/nonbinary/two-spirit community at Yale, including the graduate and professional school students.

• Beyond the Binary: A group for trans, nonbinary, and questioning people run out of the Yale LGBTQ Center. You can find out when the group meets by looking at the Yale Connect page events for the Yale LGBTQ Center. It is low-key and a nice way to both meet and get to know trans people and have conversations about gender if you want to. Beyond the Binary is for all students at Yale, undergraduate and graduate/professional school students.

• Trunch: A brunch for Yale and New Haven trans folks ran by the Yale LGBTQ Center in collaboration with the New Haven Pride Center.

• Qloset: free clothing swap for trans folks run by Trans@Yale. This is now run by the Gender Resources committee, one of the standing committees at the Yale LGBTQ Center. This resource is open to any Yale student, faculty or staff! It's literally a closet in the Yale LGBTQ Center that you can wander into and just take stuff from. If you want binders or gaffs, you should connect with one of the student assistants on duty or reach out to Director Samuel Byrd.

Groups Anecdotally Unwelcoming

• Several parties in the Yale Political Union have been historically antagonistic and hostile towards transgender members of other parties. If you decide to engage with the Yale Political Union, be cautious about the parties you attend. Research their backgrounds and grounding philosophies.
