To see a therapist, call (203) 432-0290 and ask to set up an intake appointment. This is your initial appointment, after which you will be assigned a therapist. You are allowed to request a therapist who may specifically be equipped to discuss gender identity and if you are assigned to someone you are not comfortable with, you are absolutely allowed to request re-assignment by calling (203) 432-0290 and requesting to change therapists. Many therapists may meet you on a weekly or biweekly basis for a 30-minute appointment, but you are absolutely allowed to request a longer appointment.
You can also reach out to Yale College Community Care (YC3)'s Community Wellness Specialists who can see you, often much faster, for an acute concern.
There also exists an Exploring Gender therapy group facilitated by a trans therapist; in your intake, you can express interest in participating in this group. It is for anyone who may be exploring their own gender identity or might wish to express concerns in the context of their gender identity/expression/etc.
Here is a list of Yale Mental Health and Counseling staff reviews by trans students at Yale. You are only able to access this resource if you are logged in with your Yale email.
Yale Mental Health & Counseling may not necessarily have the resources that you need for a variety of reasons. Here are some alternatives to Yale Mental Health & Counseling.
