Intro
Dating is hard, no matter who you are. Navigating one's own life is a challenge, let alone once that life comes in contact with another person's. First and foremost, your relationships should feel good. If they don't feel good, that means you have to do some digging to figure out what's not feeling good so that you can start making some changes.
It can be scary navigating dating as a trans person, but it's important to remember that being trans is not a burden. You are able to have fulfilling relationships with others where your identity is respected and appreciated in full.
Disclosing Trans Identity
There are a few ways you can go about disclosing your identity and there is a lot to consider as you select an option. On dating apps, you might choose to say that you are trans in your bio and remind people in text messages before things escalate into meeting up (ex. "Just to make sure you saw, I'm trans and I'm happy to continue talking but I wanted to check in before swapping phone numbers/meeting up/etc"). You may also choose not to disclose until something with the person escalates in the form of more consistent communication.
