Cómo Aplicar las Etapas CAS a Proyectos de Creatividad y Actividad

Stage 1 - Investigation

What?

I started rowing last year at the Nautical Club of Seville. At first, I signed up for this activity because I wanted to improve my fitness level, however I wanted to do it in a different setting than usual. Over time, I realized that being more than a great physical training, it allows me to maintain contact with the environment in a magnificent scenery such as the Guadalquivir river. In the club, there is the possibility of participating in official competitions, but for that, you have to demonstrate perseverance and involvement with training.

Where?

The Seville Nautical Club is a sports and social club based in Seville founded in 1952 by a group of water sports fans from the Seville Swimming Club who want to transfer the sports activities to the river. It is currently located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, as it passes through Seville between the Las Delicias and Los Remedios bridges.

Why?

Rowing for me is very important. On the one hand, it is a great physical training that has helped me stay physically active. On the other hand, it is an activity that gives me wellness, because I feel that I can channel my emotions through physical effort.

For what?

My purpose is to be regular with my training and to improve my level in terms of technique and physical capacity and to be able to participate in an official rowing test. I think it is a reasonable goal because my coach says that depending on my performance, I could end participating in one of those competitions this year. It's going to be a challenge, since, in addition to training, it will be the first time that I will have a competition experience.

November 2016

We have practiced a lot during this month. In addition to attending training sessions to train and improve my coordination, I have had to train strength exercises at home to improve my performance. The coach told me that if I continued like this, maybe I would be included in a competition at the end of February, always depending on how my performance and commitment through time. At least this month, I have not missed any training. This photo corresponds to one of the trainings we had this month.

February 2017

Today was the competition day. The event was in the Guadalquivir River, several rowing clubs attended. Our Club has participated with eight teams, I was in one of them. It is the first time that I participate in an official rowing event. Many people were assisting by the river banks. After the event, our coach congratulated us because everything had gone very well. Here I present a photo of myself with the team on the day of the test.

Stage 4 - Reflection

November to February 2017

I started this month very motivated and excited to start training and see what I could learn. I intend to deepen my knowledge in this activity, enter an official competition, and contribute with my performance to the success of the team. During these months I have been persistent and committed, I have been able to participate in all the training sessions and I have done extra training sessions at home. The fruit of that effort was that they included me in the team for the February event. I was very proud of myself and I think my coach has seen the progress that I have made. I feel stronger and more coordinated to execute the movements faster. On the day of the event, I was very nervous and I was afraid of doing something wrong, but the coach told us that above all that day we had to have a good time in the river. Finally, the nerves dissipated and I was able to do my best. I was thrilled after the test and felt reinforced when the coach congratulated me. It makes me want to continue working to advance more in rowing.

Stage 5 - Demonstration

By evaluating the experience of this year as part of my rowing experience, I can conclude that I have demonstrated that I have achieved the following learning outcomes:

Identify strengths and weaknesses: With this project, I have been able to set myself a goal related to an area that interests me and in which I want to continue developing. I have been able to identify as strengths my physical resistance and my good coordination to execute the movements. I think I have to improve my execution times because sometimes I am very focused on doing the movements correctly and I forget to keep up with my teammates.

Show that challenges have been taken and new skills have been developed in the process: Although I have been rowing for a year, this year was different. For me it was a challenge, first, to organize the times to regularly attend the training sessions and fulfill the commitments of both school and club. In addition, it was a challenge to work more constantly and consciously to be part of the team. As I mentioned in my reflection, I have achieved greater strength and coordination to perform movements with more speed.

Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences: commitment and perseverance are reflected in regular attendance at training and practicing strength exercises at home. I have felt that I voluntarily got involved in this and that I am working towards a goal that moves me, so it is also a commitment to me.

Show teamwork skills and recognize the benefits of collaborative work: in the different training teams we have done, I have had to work with my training partners and with my teammates. Particularly in the case of the teammates is where the benefit of collaborative work can be seen the most because we all propose ideas, listen to each other and try to reach agreements on issues of the times that we are going to print. In this way, ideas have emerged that were the product of all our minds.

Recognize and consider the ethical aspect of decisions and actions: I have had to consider the commitment to the club and my group of teammates when deciding to get involved in the team. This decision has implied that I have to organize myself much better than when I only attended training because if I miss I have repercussions on the quality of the work and finally, they can remove me from the team.

Etapa 1: Investigación

¿Qué?

He empezado a remar el año pasado en el Club Nautico de Sevilla. A principio me he inscrito en esta actividad porque quería mejorar mi forma física pero lo quería hacer en un escenario diferente de lo habitual. Con el tiempo, me di cuenta que para más de ser un buen entrenamiento físico me permite mantener contacto con el medio ambiente en un entorno magnifico como es el rio Guadalquivir. En el club hay la posibilidad de participar en pruebas oficiales pero para eso hay que demostrar constancia y implicación con los entrenos.

¿Donde?

El Club Náutico Sevilla es un club deportivo y social con sede en Sevilla fundado en 1952 por un grupo de aficionados a los deportes náuticos del Club Natación Sevilla que quieren trasladar el deporte al río. Actualmente se ubica a orillas del río Guadalquivir, a su paso por Sevilla entre los puentes de las Delicias y de Los Remedios.

¿Porque?

El remo para mi es muy importante. Por un lado es un gran entrenamiento físico que me ha ayudado a mantenerme fisicamente activo. Por otro lado, es una actividad que me entrega bien estar porque siento que puedo canalizar mis emociones a través del esfuerzo físico.

¿Para qué?

Mi propósito es ser regular con mis entrenos y ir mejorando mi nivel en términos de técnica y de fundo físico para poder participar en una prueba oficial de remo. Pienso que es una meta razonable porque mi entrenador dice que dependiendo de mi desempeño, podría participar este año en una de esas pruebas. Para mi será un desafío, ya que además de entrenar, será la primera vez que viviré una experiencia de competición.

Noviembre 2016

Hemos practicado mucho durante este mes. Además de asistir a los entrenos para entrenar y mejorar mi coordinación, he tenido que entrenar en casa ejercicios de fuerza para mejorar mis performances. El entrenador me dijo que a seguir así quizás me incluiría en una competición a finales de febrero, dependiendo de cómo sea mi desempeño y mi compromiso. Al menos este mes, no he faltado a ninguno entreno. Esta foto corresponde a una de los entrenos que tuvimos este mes.

Febrero 2017

Hoy fue el día de la competición. La prueba se hizo en el Río Guadalquivir y asistieron otros clubes de remo. Nuestro Club ha participado con 8 equipos, yo estaba en uno de ellos. Es primera vez que me participo en un evento oficial de remo. Había mucha gente asistiendo en las márgenes del rio. Después de la prueba, nuestro entrenador nos felicitó porque había salido todo muy bien. Aquí presento una foto mía con el equipo en el día de la prueba.

Etapa 4: Reflexión

Noviembre a Febrero 2017

Partí este mes muy motivada y entusiasmada por comenzar a entrenar y ver lo que podría aprender. Mi intención es profundizar mis conocimientos en esta actividad, entrar en una competición oficial e aportar en con mi desempeño al suceso del equipo. Durante estos meses he sido perseverante y comprometida, he podido participar en todas los entrenos y he realizado sesiones extra de entreno en casa. El fruto de ese esfuerzo fue que me incluyeran en el equipo para la prueba de febrero. Me sentí muy orgullosa de mí y creo que mi entrenador ha visto los avances que he logrado. Me siento más fuerte y coordinada para hacer movimientos con mayor velocidad. El día del evento estuve muy nerviosa y tenía miedo a equivocarme, pero el entrenador nos dijo que por sobre todo ese día teníamos que pasarlo bien en el rio. Finalmente los nervios se disiparon y pude dar mi mejor. Me sentí muy contenta después de la prueba y me sentí reforzada cuando el entrenador me felicitó. Me dan ganas de seguir trabajando para avanzar más en en remo.

Etapa 5: Demostración

Al evaluar lo vivido durante este año como parte de mi experiencia en remo, puedo concluir que he demostrado haber logrado los siguientes resultados de aprendizaje:

Identificar fortalezas y debilidades: con este proyecto he sido capaz de proponerme una meta relacionada con un área que me interesa y en la cual quiero seguir desarrollándome. He podido identificar como fortalezas mi resistencia física y mi buena coordinación para ejecutar los movimientos. Creo que tengo que mejorar mis tiempos de ejecución porque a veces estoy muy centrada en hacer bien los movimientos y se me olvida seguir el ritmo de mis compañeros.
Mostrar que se han afrontado desafíos y se han desarrollado nuevas habilidades en el proceso: si bien llevo un año practicando remo, este año es diferente. Para mí es un desafío, primero, organizar los tiempos para asistir regularmente a los entrenos y cumplir con los compromisos tanto del colegio como de la academia. Además, es un desafío trabajar de manera más constante y consciente para poder formar parte del equipo. Como mencioné en mi reflexión, he logrado mayor fuerza y coordinación para realizar movimientos con más velocidad.
Mostrar compromiso y perseverancia en las experiencias de CAS: el compromiso y la perseverancia se ve reflejado en la asistencia regular a los entrenos y practicar en casa los ejercicios de fuerza. He sentido que me involucré voluntariamente en esto y que estoy trabajando por una meta que me mueve, entonces es además un compromiso conmigo.
Mostrar habilidades de trabajo en equipo y reconocer los beneficios del trabajo colaborativo: en los distintos entrenos en equipo que hemos realizado, he tenido que trabajar con mis compañeras de entreno y con mis compañeros de equipo. Particularmente en el caso del equipo es donde más se puede ver el beneficio del trabajo colaborativo, porque todas proponemos ideas, nos escuchamos y tratamos de llegar a acuerdos en los temas de los tiempos que vamos a imprimir. De esta manera, han surgido ideas que son producto de todas nuestras mentes.
Reconocer y considerar el aspecto ético de las decisiones y acciones: he tenido que considerar el compromiso con el club y mi grupo de compañeras a la hora de decidir involucrarme en el equipo. Esta decisión ha implicado que tengo que organizarme mucho mejor que cuando sólo asistía a entrenos, porque si falto tengo repercusiones en la calidad del trabajo y finalmente, me pueden sacar del equipo.
