In November 2022, we had the opportunity to visit the IC Virgilio school in Rome, Italy. This institution is part of a four school group: two primary schools, one high school and a hospital-school. That allowed us to explore various settings.
IC Virgilio is committed to educational innovation, striving to cultivate informed and responsible citizens who are prepared to meet the challenges of the contemporary world.
As an inclusive institution, the "Virgilio" State Comprehensive Institute welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and with varying educational needs. Its primary objective is to foster academic success for all students, irrespective of their personal or social circumstances.
During our visit, we observed notable differences in both pedagogical approaches and learning environments compared to the public schools we are familiar with, particularly in Catalonia. The school's innovative use of space and methodology provided valuable insights into alternative educational models.
During the stay, a Padlet was developed as a detailed diary to document and share the entire experience.
Here are some photographies from the experience in IC Virgilio.
As this project enables us to visit, observe, learn, and explore different educational systems, we took the opportunity to share our experience directly with our students. We organized a video conference between IC Virgilio and our students, allowing them to engage in a meaningful exchange and gain a broader perspective on education beyond their local context.
