The following project is a multidisciplinary term project called 'Invasive Species' which is to be carried out by 6th of primary students. The didactic proposal is related to the study and research of the invasive species we can find in our area (Folgueroles, Osona). But not only this, it is also a project to learn about the different ecosystems, their organisms, their relations and also to be aware of the importance of having balanced ecosystems and what can we do as compromised citizens to take care of our environment. In this project, 6th-graders work in cooperative groups to create a final exhibition addressed to the school community (school partners, teachers, and families). In the final exhibition, students will explain the results of their investigations and their own reflections to a public audience.
They will also promote actions to avoid the problems related to invasive species or related to the harmful human interactions of our ecosystems. To prepare such activities, 6th grade-students will find all the tasks and materials needed on their Google Classroom platform and on the Google Site created for the project. They will also use a variety of ICT tools to develop the cooperative project.
We retook our last GEP1-CLIL primary proposal related to endangered animals, and we thought about improving it and localizing it in our territory to deal with familiar and real problems from our area. This way, our students can contribute to explain to a big audience some familiar issues while learning about pedagogical content related to organisms, ecosystems and to be aware about natural or human interactions with the environment.
Before starting the project, we investigated about different problems in our area (Osona) related to invasive species, and we used the TUBRIC to find out the DRIVING QUESTION for our project:
