Dear Parents,
We have begun preparations for our Medieval Project! This project is designed to help your student explore Medieval Europe (c. 500–1500 CE) while developing key research skills, including understanding plagiarism, evaluating sources, and summarizing information.
Due Date:
Thursday, March 19
Project Overview
Students will create a hands-on, interactive project that shows what they have learned about a topic of interest from Medieval Europe. This is not a written report and is not simply a craft or building project. Instead, it is an academic research project based on evidence, where students demonstrate understanding in a way that can be seen, touched, or interacted with.
A detailed handout was given to your student. Students will receive the rubric tomorrow.
Expectations for Original Work
Students must create their own work. Using someone else’s exact words, ideas, or creations is considered plagiarism and will not be accepted.
Purchased or pre-made projects are not allowed.
AI and Online Content
Online content generators, including ChatGPT or similar tools, should not be used as sources for this project. Students are expected to gather information from reliable, age-appropriate sources and summarize it in their own words.
At-Home Completion
This project must be completed at home. Students are encouraged to plan their work carefully and make sure their project reflects what they have learned through research.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns. I am excited to see the creativity and learning that comes from this project!
Yours in cheerful chaos,
