In-Class Participation 5% Accelerated Reader 10%*
Assignments 35% Projects/Assessments 50%
*Every student will have a goal of 10 AR Point in Quarter 1
Corrections will be an opportunity to bring up a grade by some points if a homework assignment didn't go as well as a student would have liked. Remember that corrections are meant to help students learn from their mistakes, not as a shortcut for not taking their time on an assignment.
Assignments*: Corrections may be completed only if the assignment was submitted on time. Corrected assignments may earn up to full points.
*Late assignments are not eligible for corrections.
Week of August 31-September 4
Monday - Hand out first Literature book, Esperanza Rising, and start reading first 2 chapters (1924 and Las Uvas) in the book - Homework: Read 15 minutes
Tuesday - Finish reading Chapter 2 (Las Uvas) in Esperanza Rising and work time on sequence chain worksheet - Homework: Read 15 minutes and Sequence Chain worksheet due Friday, Sept. 4th
Wednesday - Library Day; pick out first AR books of the year and book conferencing - Homework: Read 15 minutes
Thursday - Read Chapter 3 (Las Papayas) in Esperanza Rising and work time on sequence chain worksheet - Homework: Read 15 minutes and Sequence Chain worksheet due Tuesday, Sept. 8th
Friday - Review what we read this week and talk about conflict in stories - Homework: Read 15 minutes and Sequence Chain worksheet due Tuesday, Sept. 8th

Wednesday - Intro to Literature - No assignment
