Grade Weighting for LA: Homework 15% Journal Writing 15% Quizzes 30% Tests/Writing Projects 40%
We start each day writing a Journal entry for three minutes or so in the composition notebook every day we have class. I will be taking a Journaling grade every two weeks. Students are responsible for journaling each day we have class. Each day should include the date and at least 6 lines of writing. Students can write their thoughts about events going on in the world around them, past or upcoming events in their life, or make up a fictional story.
In LA this year we will
work on learning to write good sentences and paragraphs, a compare/contrast essay, and a personal narrative.
learn many new vocabulary words and look for opportunities to use our new words.
learn about the 8 parts of speech.
write a journal entry almost every day we have class, which helps us learn to let our ideas flow from our creative minds to the paper. Writing helps us build strong fine motor muscles.
