Welcome to our careers website.

Commitment and aims

Wyvern Academy is committed to maximising the potential of the young people under our care, enabling them to progress to the post-16 provider of their choice and ultimately to successful employment.

The Academy believes that high quality Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) is a key element in raising aspirations and supporting pupils in their journey to adulthood and making a positive contribution to their community. Our whole school approach to careers is guided by the eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance.

Policies

Wyvern Academy is part of the Consilium Academies Trust .

Our Careers and work related policy is reviewed annually by the Local Academy Board.

Other relevant policies include

Provider Access policy which sets out the academy's arrangements for managing the access of providers to pupils at the academy for the purposes of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer. This complies with the school’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997.

Our Safeguarding policy recognises that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm, and that the child’s welfare is our paramount concern. All visitors taking part in careers related activities must produce a copy of their enhanced DBS and photo id on arrival in school. If they are unable to do this their activity may be cancelled if we are not able to provide them with a member of Wyvern staff who will accompany them at all times.
