Comparing data over a period of time can be mis-leading due to changes in the way statistics are compiled eg. only pupils with an EHCP count as SEND in 2017,18. Previously a different system was used.
From 2018, only data validated by the local authority and submitted to the DfE will be published. Data from a variety of sources has been used to provide statistics about previous years.
One measure used to gauge the effectiveness of school provision is the number of pupils progressing to a level 3 course. Unfortunately our local colleges require everyone studying "a trade" ,such as plumbing, construction, hair, to start at level 1. As we have large numbers of pupils choosing to study vocational courses at these providers it can skew our progression figures.
