I do not think I will ever be the perfect leader according to my own standards, but I do believe that in this course, I have had the chance to develop some of the necessary leadership skills. Specifically, the online nature of this course has helped me build my communication skills and our work with the Switch text (by Chip & Dan Heath) has allowed me to shift my mindset to that of an educational leader. In our quests for success, things happen. We encounter barriers, dead ends, and even failures. We may face opponents and critics. I admire a leader who can acknowledge these things, brush them off if necessary, and move on. Pedagogy-wise, an effective technology education leader maintains an active Leadership Portfolio based on ISTE Leader standards. I aspire to remain connected to the greater education world for the purpose of regular collaboration, which I could accomplish with regular blogging and Tweeting, but which has also been a major perk of this graduate program.
