Hi! My name is Lindsay Holmes and I am the middle school band teacher! I was born in San Diego into a very music family where everyone plays an instrument or sings but have spent most of my life living in Bakersfield. Music has always been my main passion in life, so getting to teach it and hopefully transfer some of my love and passion for music onto my student is a dream come true!
I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2012 with a BA in Managerial Organizational Communications. All throughout High School I was actively involved in choir and the performing arts. I just finished my Masters and single subject credential courses at National University and will be graduating the middle of September. This will be my 3rd year teaching band and my 5th year teaching music.
My goal as a teacher like I mentioned above is to transfer the passion and love I feel for music onto my students. I strive to keep my classroom positive and fun, encouraging students to try new things and treat each other kindly. It is important that my classroom be a place where students feel comfortable to hang out and have the freedom to unapologetically be themselves.
My classroom is like, REALLY loud, but we embrace the (usually) controlled chaos and have a ton of fun. My hope and goal is that by the end of the year my students will be able read music and play their instruments, but more importantly that they’ll leaving knowing that they are loved and cared for!
If you need to contact me, my email is: liholmes@wuesd.org
I am easiest to reach at Thomas Jefferson in the afternoon! If you have any comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out! I’ll be happy to chat!
