About this Screenwriting & Video Production

This is an English elective course offered to students in 10th-12th grade. Because we live in a digital world, we all have the capabilities of being the next Scorsese. This class is designed to give students the basic understanding of the film industry, writing / formatting a script, gathering the most effective shots and editing the video. Students will learn and practice the roles and responsibilities of people on a production team some of which include directing, casting, filming, budgeting, organizing, and editing.

Grading

  • When possible, students will be given the option of a video or an essay

  • Reasonable deadlines will be given for videos and other major assignments, however if deadlines are not met, points will be deducted.

  • Minor assessments will not be accepted late

  • All assignments will be submitted in the Google classroom.

  • ALL videos, pictures, music, scripts, characters and ideas are expected to be that of the student. Copyright infringement will nit be tolerated and will result in a zero on the assignment. All music and pictures must be labeled for reuse.

  • All phases of the video making process will be evaluated and graded. Shot sheets, story board and call sheets will be graded as minor assessments. Completed videos and/or essays will be graded as major assessments. Active participation in Google Meets meetings will also be evaluated.
