Quill & Scroll Honor Society
The year after Colonia High School opened they inducted the first class from Colonia High into Quill and Scroll International Honor Society for Journalism. Since then, Quill and Scroll has grown to encompass all forms of news including PTV, The Declaration Newspaper and the Arch Yearbook. New members will be nominated by the adviser of these news outlets in March. New members are normally inducted in May or June during a ceremony in the Media Center. The requirements for Quill and Scroll are as followed:
They must be of freshman, sophomore, junior or senior classification.
They must have the equivalent of a B grade average, or be in the upper third of their class in general scholastic standing, either for the year of their election or for the cumulative total of all high school work.
They must have done superior work in some phase of journalism or school media work. They may be staffers of a magazine, newspaper, yearbook, news organization, online site or radio/television station at the school, or one conducted by an external organization.
They must be recommended by the supervisor or by the committee governing the media.
They must be approved by the Quill and Scroll Associate Director.

***If you have been caught plagiarizing or using generative AI without the teacher's permission in any class, members from Quill and Scroll will be removed from the honor society. Nominees caught plagiarizing or using generative AI without the teacher's permission in any class, will not be inducted and the nomination is revoked.
