Poetry Club

About Poetry Club

Poetry club is a free-from-judgement space where students can feel comfortable writing about whatever interests them or about what is bothering them. In a normal English class, sometimes poetry is not taught due to curriculum restraints or students cannot write how they are really feeling. This club allows them to sort through their feelings on paper. Not only do we write poetry, but we share our poems with the group. Select students have also participated in our district's Poetry Slam and in NJ's State Poetry Out Loud competition. In the past, Slam Poet Chris Rockwell has held workshops with our members.
