This course offers a comprehensive exploration of literature and language designed to deepen students' critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. Throughout the year, students will engage with a diverse range of texts, including novels, plays, graphic novels, short stories, and informational nonfiction. Through these works, students will analyze themes, literary techniques, and cultural contexts to develop a richer understanding of the human experience.
In addition to literary analysis, students will participate in weekly vocabulary development to strengthen language proficiency and enhance both written and verbal communication. Writing instruction will focus on constructing well-organized analytical and argumentative essays. Students will learn to support their ideas with quotational evidence, incorporate examples from multiple sources, and properly cite those sources using standard citation formats.
