Week of 2/15: Please practice reading and spelling our February high frequency words (11 total) with Brin. Please have a grown up at home "quiz" you on your spelling to make sure you know them all.
Week of 1/27: Please practice reading and spelling our latest 20 high frequency words with Brin. Email me your "score" when you are done. How many out of 15 did you spell correctly?
High Frequency (or "sight) Words are listed on the YELLOW paper in your child's Red or Yellow "Literacy" folder that was sent home in their basket. Students should practice reading AND writing all sight words. It is normal that correct spelling may be more challenging than accurate reading at this point. Please practice BOTH.

Remember:
common noun = any old person, place or thing
proper noun = SPECIFIC noun. Capital letter.
predicate = what the noun does
action verb = the action you can see in a predicate
For a challenge, you can write your OWN mad lib and email it to Brin. I'll include it for a future week!
A "choose to" activity this week of 9/21 is "Roll and Read Sentences" with CVC and CVCC words. Click on the video to watch directions. My 10 sentences, are to the right, or for a challenge, you could write your own and play with those!
Roll and Read CVC Words
In this 3 minute video, Brin will guide you though what a "CVC" word is, and how to set up a gameboard to play "Roll and Read CVC Words" game. You will need a 6-sided die and the template from your literacy folder (or a blank piece of paper works too!).
CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) and CCVC (consonant, consonant, vowel, consonant) words to choose from to write on your "Roll and Read" game board this week:
Real CVC words: sad, map, rag, nap, rig, lid, sip, fit, lip, Sid, lap, nip, rot, lot, fog, mop, rod, mud, fix, lid, Ted, dot, hip, bed, web, peg
Nonsense CVC words: sut, vid, weg, kiz, zat, dep, pob, dem, vib, sot, jix, quib, zeg, yut, fap, wog, lub, jid, jit, dap, fif, foz, gad
Real CCVC or CVCC words: much, rock, quit, moth, such, shot, this, thin, sick, rush, math, whip, chin, dash, Rick, them, shut, hush
