ACT Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Should I take the ACT in 10th grade?
A: If you are planning on taking a Concurrent Enrollment class in 11th grade that requires an ACT score it is recommended that you take the ACT before registration opens for that semester. Common classes that require ACT scores are Math, English, Chemistry, and Physical Science.
If you are planning on participating in Early College through Weber State University, you will need an ACT score. The Early College program allows students to take any Weber State class available to first and second year students. These classes are through the university and not through high school, so regular university tuition is required. Scholarships are available. You will need to meet with your counselor before applying for this program.
Q: Is the ACT ever offered for free?
A: Yes, the ACT is offered for free 1 time for 11th grade students. This test will be given during 2nd semester to 11th graders during a regular school day. Students who miss this test or opt out of this test day are not given the option to take it for free later. All other test dates must be paid for upon registration.
