Make-A-Wish is the world’s largest wish-granting organization, with 42 affiliates granting the wishes of children in more than 50 territories on five continents, and 62 chapters serving all communities across the United States and its territories. Each territory uses its own resources to grant local wishes, and establishes contacts with these local resources directly. Resources can include, but are not limited to: celebrities, sights, entertainment parks, accommodations, companies, etc.
When a child wishes to travel to another country or wishes for something another affiliate or chapter can easily achieve through connecting with local contacts and their local expertise, the two affiliates/chapters start
to work together. This collaboration is referred to as a “wish assist.” Wish assists help everyone in the global organization benefit from already established local relationships or expertise.
Over the years, many materials have been developed to allow wish assists to follow a certain structure and to ensure a timely, yet efficient, process. These materials are aimed to stimulate good communication between affiliates and chapters, as well as to provide all the information needed to learn about the benefits affiliates, chapters and global partnerships have to offer. These documents can be found on the following pages.
