The wish effect phase is about measuring the effect of our mission and measuring the impact of a wish in a more scientific way.
We can multiply the effect of a wish by maintaining the relationship with the wish child and wish family in an organized way. This will strengthen the experience for the wish child and positively influence the impact of the wish.
Wish recipients and their family are the best advocates to demonstrate the healing power of the wishes we grant. The more we let them speak about wish impact, the more we can communicate “we don’t only serve terminally ill children. Look what they go on to achieve!” without having to say it.
Make sure the contact with the family and the child is made by the organization after the wish, not by the volunteer directly. Be cautious of getting too personally involved with the family/child.
After having such a powerful experience, it’s not a surprise that wish children and their families often want to stay involved in the Make-A-Wish family in some way.
