Contacts
Contacts
Some agility obstacles have a different color section at the end. This area is called a "contact." A dog needs to touch the contact zone with at least one paw to complete these obstacles. We train to touch 4 paws on contacts
There are two ways to train contacts - running contacts and stop contacts.
Watch these dogs progress from learning to step on a mat to running contact obstacles at full speed! Their trainers chose a simple training method that gets their dogs running agility courses quickly and accurately.
When we train a stop contact we ask a dog to stop with either 4 feet on the contact zone. This way of training is easier for some youth and dogs.
