Student Health Services
School Nurse Support
Health and learning go hand in hand; a healthy student is a more confident learner. Wilson County Schools’ registered nurses work in collaboration with other staff to support student well-being by ensuring students are healthy, safe, and ready to learn each day.
Each nurse is assigned to specific schools and provides care based on student needs. Nurses help manage chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and seizures by working with families and healthcare providers to create Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs). They also train school staff to assist with more complex medical needs.
For some students, school nurses are their primary health resource. Nurses collaborate with families, school staff, and community providers to connect students with essential services and support academic success through screenings, education, and early interventions.
