Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
A busy final week with Internet Safety Monday, the House Rock, Paper, Scissors final, and No Pen day! We think that No Pen day was so much fun - we really feel we have made some progress with our careful listening and confident speaking skills. Thank you Ms Beadle for organising such a fun day!
In Humanities we have been researching the population of the Middle East and describing densely and sparsely populated countries. We have spent No Pen day working as a class to unlock a (sadly fictional) treasure chest in our Early Islamic esape room, and then we used physical atlases to identify key landmark locations and bodies of water in and around the Arabian peninsula.
In Maths this week, we have been using our skills of substitution and rearranging equations to identify a straight line and use an equation to draw a straight line on the Cartesian Plane. In English we have been watching the film of Skellig and enjoyed comparing and contrasting to the book, as well as critiquing it! We have also been reflecting this week and setting personal target for next half term.
In Drama this week, although we were slightly depleted in our Wednesday lesson due to swimming trials, the rest of us worked on developing some fantastic ideas for our adverts that could be incorporated into our Leavers' Production! In Science this week, we spent some time reviewing our topic on Light to consolidate what we have learnt over the past few weeks. In Computing, we focused on reinforcing the importance of internet safety, ensuring everyone knows how to stay safe online. We also practised creating secure passwords.
Finally, in French we have finished our topic on food, drinks, and ordering snacks in a café. In our last lesson, we had fun putting our learning into practice by ordering some delicious pains au chocolat! We are excited to start Spanish next half term!
Have a great half term,
The Year 6 Newsletter Team
