Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week in Reception, we reached the exciting end of our Space topic! The children loved learning about Dwarf planets, meteorites, comets, and asteroids, expanding their understanding of the universe beyond our planet.
In Maths, we focused on consolidating our numbers to 20, practising number formation and identifying missing numbers in sequences. The children showed great confidence in their learning, applying their skills in different activities.
A highlight of our week was our wonderful trip to Wimbledon Common. The children embraced the outdoors, taking on exciting challenges such as crossing a stream, climbing over and crawling under logs, and exploring the wonders of nature. They demonstrated incredible resilience—especially when getting stuck in the mud! One of the most memorable moments was working together to build and cross a stick bridge, showcasing teamwork, determination, and problem-solving skills.
We ended the week with a fun-filled No Pens Day, using our voices, creativity, and hands-on activities to learn in new and exciting ways. To celebrate the end of our Space topic, we even had a magical "picnic on the moon," sparking imaginations and bringing our learning to life.
It has been a fantastic week of learning, adventure, and perseverance. Well done, Reception!
The children have worked really hard this half term, and deserve a well earned rest!
