Typically, this event is held in person. This year, however, we are sharing information online,
so that families and individuals can virtually explore organizations and the recreational activities that they offer.

We believe it is important to continue to connect with the community, even if it is virtually for the time being.

Self Advocacy Association of New York State

The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc., is an organization founded, and led, by people with developmental disabilities for people with developmental disabilities. The Self Advocacy Association promotes the awareness and recognition of the civil rights and responsibilities which include the opportunities and choices of equal citizenship.




Ms. Wheelchair New York

Ms. Wheelchair New York is a competition for women who use wheelchairs. Rather than a beauty pageant, the competition promotes disability awareness, education, advocacy, and celebrates the accomplishments of women who use wheelchairs.




Best Buddies

Best Buddies International in Albany currently offers the school friendship program at 40 local schools from elementary to the college level. This program creates an inclusive community for students and adults with IDD, helping them become socially integrated with their peers at every age. Additionally, Best Buddies in Albany offers e-Buddies, our e-mail pen pal program that provides safe opportunities for one-to-one online friendships for participants of all ages.




Clever PinSpotters Bowling League

The Clever PinSpotters Bowling League has been in existence for 58 years!

The league offers bowling for children and adults with special needs. Currently, we do not offer bowling for small children, but welcome all people with any disability to come bowl with us.




Wildwood Adult Education

Wildwood Adult Education consists of interactive and online classes through small groups and individual classes. Currently classes are online or by phone. Fall Semester is being planned now - and registration forms will go out in August!




Our House

Run by Colin Allyn, head of the Our House ministry. Our House offers a social program for individuals with developmental disabilities. We meet once a month, and these events are a party more than a meeting - each van has a theme, and we give away prizes. There is food, dancing, games and a chance for members to make new friends!




Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley

The Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley provides services and support for people with disabilities, including youth, young adults, and family members. One of the primary services includes a weekly youth group hosted by a Youth Transition Specialist. The youth group offers people, through age 30, recreational opportunities, skill building, art, music, and peer support. Other services offered through the Independent Living Center include assistance with housing, employment, education, referrals, and other identified needs.




Creative Harmonies Music

Creative Harmonies Music Studio (formerly Piano for Special Kidz) is a full service, inclusive studio located in Latham, New York, for both children and adults. We work with students of all ages, abilities and learning styles. Creative Harmonies also offers Skype lessons for those students who may be out of reach of our physical location, as well as Mentoring Programs for teachers interested in teaching piano to children with learning challenges.
