Rights of the child
In the Foundation phase classes, we have been focusing upon Article 3 Best interest of the child and Article 31 Leisure, play and culture linked to the rights of the child.
We have been ensuring that children and staff within our classes are kept safe during these difficult and challenging times. We have ensured that children are aware of the reasons for frequent handwashing and the need for staff to wear face masks when completing work with them close up.
Children have been engaged in our topic linked to seize the seasons. They have been involved in learning about celebrations and events which are important to them for example, birthdays, Halloween etc. Children have been developing their social skills through play based authentic learning experiences.
Homework
Each child will be given a learning log. Homework at the beginning of the term which can be completed in any order and shared with the class at any time.
Reading:-All reading books must be brought back in a plastic bag on a Friday. They will be in quarantine until Tuesday. A new book will be sent out that day and must be returned on Friday. Reading records will not be used, we are working on a whole school online document for parents to use with the class teacher.
A lot of the topics that are covered in the Dosbarth Melyn are related to story books, so the children are exposed to a wide variety of reading materials
As a school we are very keen to promote the importance of reading and you can help your child by reading to them, as well as listening to them read and visiting the library.
Spellings –Spellings will be put on twitter on Mondays and the spelling test will take place on the following Friday. Children have been given their spelling groups according to a spelling test they have completed.
