Welcome to our Class page. Please check regularly to find out important dates and to find out what we have been working on in class. We are looking forward to working in partnership with you so that your child has a very exciting, productive and memorable year with us.

The children are all settled into their classes and have participated fully in activities.

The children have adapted well and are following our new rules and routines in order to keep everyone safe.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and understanding. I am very much looking forward to the year ahead! If you have any questions, please contact me via Class Dojo or contact the school’s office.

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday on Google Classroom and must be returned the following Friday morning. Spelling tests will be every Friday and will need to achieve 8/10 to earn their weekly reward.

PE

We will be using the outdoors as much as possible this term. Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing and trainers for all weather.

Literacy

Many of our literacy lessons will be based on script writing, newspaper reports and story writing. We will be writing stories, reports and poems.

Maths

Your child will continue to work on the , 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 times tables. We will be developing our number skills and applying them to real life situations.

Science

We will be focusing on the human body, how to stay healthy, effects of drugs and alcohol and the functions of the main organs.

RE

We will be studying Light and Dark.

PHSE

We will be looking at the ‘Rights of Child’ and will produce an assembly for article.

Reading

Your child will need to bring their reading books into class daily this term. All children read quietly or with a partner for a short period at the start of the day and after lunch each day.  We encourage children to test at home using a tablet/Chromebook or use the Chromebook in school.

Children are placed in groups for Guided Group Reading sessions with me each week. These sessions focus on developing children’s reading and comprehension skills and records are kept in school. In class we also regularly timetable shared reading. As a school we are very keen to promote the importance of reading; you can help your child by reading to them, as well as listening to them and by visiting the library. Please make sure that you sign your child’s reading record each time you read with them and include any details of things they do well or aspects they have struggled with.
