WRHS Band Student Leadership Job Descriptions
Drum Majors (typically 2)
Elected by band members in the Spring
Run classes/rehearsals in the director’s absence
Work with section leaders to ensure that football and basketball games are attended by a with balanced instrumentation
Help with efficient communication between directors and all band members
Assist section leaders to ensure that sectionals run smoothly
Assist booster parents when needed
Represent the entire band when we travel and meet new people
Make all members of the band feel welcome and comfortable in our band family
Be a role model for all band members in all areas of student life
Attend ASB meetings as a band representative when needed
Other duties as assigned
Section Leaders (6-7 depending on how big the bands are)
Elected by band members in the Fall
Take roll for your section every day
Run sectionals during and outside of class (Hornet Time and after school) as needed
Assign parts (1st, 2nd ,3rd, etc.) to maintain equitable and balanced sounds for every piece of music
Work with drum majors to ensure that football and basketball games are attended by balanced sections
Help with communication between directors, drum majors, and all band members
Make sure all members of your section are dressed completely and appropriately for all public performances
Make all members of your section (including freshmen) feel welcome and comfortable in our band family
Be a role model for all band members in all areas of student life
Other duties as assigned
Uniform Managers (usually 2)
Appointed by graduating seniors in the Spring
Maintain organized storage of all marching band uniforms and concert vests/ties
Create an organized system of distribution and collection of uniforms before and after performances
Perform small repairs when needed
Communicate with band director about larger repairs and replacement needs
Assist with delivery and pick-up of summer dry-cleaning
Be a role model for all band members in all areas of student life
Other duties as assigned
“Band Mom”
Appointed by graduating seniors in the Spring
Be a role model for all band members in all areas of student life
Other duties as assigned
“Percussion Dad”
Appointed by graduating seniors in the Spring
Keep all percussion equipment properly stored and in working order
Facilitate moving of appropriate percussion equipment for every performance
Perform small repairs when needed
Communicate with band director about large repairs and replacement needs
Be a role model for all band members in all areas of student life
Other duties as assigned
