The MUSIC acronym in the choir room will lead to successful lessons and rehearsals:
1. Make choices that help you and others learn.
2. Use your voice, body, and materials appropriately.
3. Speak when the time is right.
4. Involve yourself.
5. Choose to be your best!
Additionally, the choir room should be a safe environment designed for learning, performing, teamwork, and sharing comfortably. Therefore, all students are to respect and follow these daily classroom expectations.
Please refer to the class syllabus for additional expectations.
Students will be scored using the standards based grading system:

Being prepared for class (you need your music and a pencil to every rehearsal)
Obvious preparation outside of class (you should improve day to day)
“Expression, Ear Training, and Sight Singing”
1. Students are graded on progress (singing tests are usually monthly)
2. Students are graded on understanding of musical concepts
3. Students are graded on listening to those around them to match pitch and rhythm
4. Students are graded on expression when singing (facial expression, vocal expression, etc.)
“Professionalism and Performance”
Students are graded on performing at our scheduled concerts, as well as professionalism at the concert. This includes proper concert attire, respectful behavior towards fellow classmates and other choirs, and bringing any materials that may be required. In addition, professionalism within rehearsal is graded as well. Here is the grading rubric for the weekly rehearsal grades:
