Dr. Rich Kuntzelman, director of bands

Rich Kuntzelman is the director of bands at White River High School in Buckley, Washington where he teaches concert, jazz, percussion, and marching ensembles. Throughout his career, Dr. Kuntzelman has taught performance and non-performance-based music classes to grades 5-12 in Washington, Montana, and Wyoming. His engaging and innovative teaching methods have earned his performing ensembles high accolades throughout the United States, and the White River School District has twice been recognized as one of America’s “best communities for music education” by the NAMM Foundation.

Dr. Kuntzelman holds music education degrees from Montana State University and the University of Wyoming and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University. "Dr K" was awarded the Evanston Chamber of Commerce Pat on the Back Award; Fergus High School Teacher of the Year; the Mary Meisenbach Excellence in Education Award; and has been listed in the Marquis Who's Who in America Directory. Aside from teaching and studying music, he is an adventurous home cook and eater, a traveler and hiker, an avid reader, and he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two teenagers at home in Bonney Lake.
