Investigation:

Not being apart of SC or ever running for it I was at some of their meetings that were about prom. In Wells the juniors have to host prom for the seniors and it has to be to their likings, therefore that meant our class had to find a bunch of hotels and come up with many different themes which was stressful at times. Living close to all the hotels I was asked to go check the ball rooms out after the seniors narrowed it down. I was also asked to be MC to which i gladly agreed. Being MC meant coming up with a schedule and coming up with activities and keeping track of performances. After making the schedule I had to consult with the senior class leader to see if everything was to their liking.

Preparation:

Luckily for me I wasn't MC-ing alone, I was asked to MC with my friend, which made it easier as I had someone to split the work wit. However, working together on one factor at a time made it easier. To start preparing we came up with a few games and a rough schedule as to how the few hours of prom would go. Once we got that down we approached the class leader of 2018 and presented him with our game ideas and the schedule. A while later he came back to us and told us about class of 2018 decision. We then had to get materials for the two games they chose, the first game was the newspaper game and the second was guess the movie given emojis. We had to get newspaper and make a presentation with emojis. We also had to find out if any of the seniors wanted to perform. There were three seniors that agreed to perform.

Action:

Finally came prom. My friend and I were suppose to welcome everyone at 7:30 and so we assumed we had time to get ready but we were suppose to be there at 7. That made everything chaotic because we thought we were behind schedule. However, we reached at 7:10 since I lived next door. At 7:30 my friend and i had to get everyone to come in and sit on their seats so we could formally welcome the seniors and our classmates and also start with the games. After we were done with the games and performances it was time to dance. Unfortunately, many people were shy and didn't want to dance until a few of us that weren't shy pulled them up on the dance floor.

Reflection:

Reflecting back on this event, I didn't feel as accomplished as I thought I would. Although the seniors gave us good feedback I was really hoping for everyone to get together on the dance floor and dance and just enjoy. Something I learnt about myself was that even though I am not stage fright and confident when it comes to speaking to an audience I am scared when it comes to saying names I've never heard before. This taught me that I need to build more confidence when it comes to saying names I've never heard of before, even if I get it wrong.

Demonstration:

Having gone through the whole process of planning prom, selling tickets, and more I aim to make it easier for my juniors when they plan class of 2019's prom. Having a childhood friend in the year below makes it easier for me to help if they need any help because of the good relation we have. On top of that I've sent him everything such as the game list, the schedule, the MC script, and anything else I had with me.
