Mice are a very important animal in the spread of Lyme Disease. Did you know that ticks get their Lyme Disease from the mice? Mice also can be born with certain diseases but in most cases, the mouse is infected by an infected tick biting it, and all the other ticks go feed on that specific mouse and get Lyme Disease. It gets even worse, though, because they are one of the primary carriers of ticks as well. The United States is known for being infested with mice already. 416 mice were caught in New York City in 15 months, according to NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information). This is already a big problem, so we need to act fast before this becomes even bigger. Mice are most likely a ticks first blood meal, so mice are definitely one of the most important cause for Lyme Disease and ticks.
