Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy

To maximize the opportunities for learning, students are expected to attend all of their scheduled classes and to follow their scheduled programs every day. Students who are absent for seven (7) or more days in each course each marking period and/or sixteen (16) or more days throughout the year must attend an attendance appeal.

At this appeal, a committee will decide if the student’s excessive absences were justified with medical excuses. The committee will then grant an appeal or denial. If the student’s appeal is denied, s/he will fail each of his/her courses for the marking period or year. For half-year (semester) courses, students must comply with the attendance policy taking into consideration that all attendance numbers are to be halved. For example, students must not be absent for more than 8 days for semester courses since students cannot exceed 16 absences for a full year course. Academic and disciplinary consequences of excused and unexcused absences shall be in accordance with the adopted board policy.
