Special and Important Notes:
A student must have matriculated at Weehawken High School for the entire preceding year to be eligible for inclusion in class rankings. Students must be at Weehawken High School for two consecutive years to be ranked in his/her senior class.
A student who transfers in from another high school and another chapter of the National and/or Junior National Honor Society will be allowed to participate in the Weehawken High School National or Junior National Honor Society, providing s/he meets all the WHS criteria and eligibility requirements, and documents his/her membership with a letter from the former principal or chapter adviser. This follows the National Honor Society Constitution, Article VIII, Section 6.
Once a course selection is decided by both the student and parent, there is no exit from the course. All appeals are referred to the principal.
A student who chooses to take college-level classes outside Weehawken High School will receive credit hours but the grade will not be included in the grade point average (GPA).
If a student has an administrative course change, the grades from the first course, if any, will be transferred to the second course.
Students must also complete eighty (80) hours of community service to be eligible to graduate.
Each student is encouraged to take 35 credits a year and must earn a minimum of 30 credits and pass both English and math to be eligible for promotion to the succeeding grade. To enter senior year, 90 credits must be earned.
Classified students, under the auspices of the Special Education department, must earn a minimum of 120 credits and follow all aspects of the pupil’s Individualized Educational Program. The student’s IEP may include modifications for the administration of any or all standardized tests.
