Course Overview
The 8th Grade Band is the most advanced ensemble in our 4-year program and represents the highest level of musicianship at WDMS. Open to students with at least one full year of experience on their instrument, this graded course challenges students to lead by example. As the senior members of the band program, 8th graders are expected to demonstrate Pride, Passion, and Commitment to Excellence in their performance, behavior, and dedication to music.
Rehearsals & Lessons
Rehearses three times per 6-day cycle (B4, B5, B6) during 1st period
Each student attends one small-group lesson per cycle during 4th period (lunch/recess)
Performances & Field Trips
Perform at all school concerts, festivals, and community events
Showcase talent at major events such as:
Latinx Heritage Night
Veterans Day Ceremony
Multicultural Night
Participate in performance field trips and represent WDMS throughout the community
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES
Each student is expected to bring the necessary materials to every lesson, rehearsal, and performance. These items help ensure you are prepared, organized, and ready to succeed. Additional items may be required at the discretion of the directors.
