West Deptford Middle School Band Director
Band is more than just music — it’s a place where students grow, connect, and shine!
Discipline & Responsibility – Students learn to manage time, care for their instrument, and work toward long-term goals.
Teamwork – Every musician plays a vital role. Band teaches students to listen, cooperate, and support each other.
Confidence – Performing on stage builds self-esteem and encourages students to take pride in their accomplishments.

All 5th grade students at West Deptford Middle School are welcome to join! No experience is necessary — just a willingness to learn and have fun.
Band lessons are held during the school day, during 8th period (a non-academic, activities period).
Students receive one small-group lesson per 6-day cycle.
As students progress, full band rehearsals are added 3 times per cycle, also during 8th period.

Students may choose from a variety of instruments, including:

🎵 Saxophone
🎵 Trumpet
🎵 Trombone
🎵 Percussion (bells/snare)
Don’t worry — we’ll guide each student through the instrument selection process to help them find the best fit!
Yes! All students need to bring their instrument and a few essential supplies to be prepared for lessons and rehearsals.

Nope! Band is built right into the school schedule during 8th period — a dedicated time for music and activities. Students won’t miss any academic instruction.
Instruments can be rented or purchased through our trusted partner, Cole’s Music Service.
We’ll provide full information during our instrument sign-up process.
There’s no fee to join band itself. Students will need:
