6th Grade Band
Band Class: 7th Period (A1, A2, A3 days)
Class Type: Graded Performing Arts Ensemble
Lessons: 3rd Period Lunch/Recess (See Lesson Calendar)
Course Overview
The 6th Grade Band is the second step in our 4-year band program. After beginning on their instruments in 5th grade with small-group lessons, students now experience their first daily ensemble rehearsals. This is an exciting transition—moving from learning the basics individually to making music together as a full band. It’s the next level of instrumental music, where students develop teamwork, listening skills, and confidence while continuing to grow on their instruments.
Course Details:
Band Class: Practice at a full ensemble three times in each 6-day cycle during 7th period (on A1, A2, and A3 days).
Lessons: Each student also attends one small-group lesson during lunch/recess (3rd period) each cycle. These lessons give extra help on their instrument.
Grading: This is a pass/fail class. Students are graded on participation, preparation, and attendance.
Performances: The band performs two big concerts during the year—Winter and Spring. Students also get to take part in one fun, performance-based field trip.
