Trauma Informed Principles

Safety is found at the center of trauma informed leadership because it is essential for leaders to develop a trauma informed environment.

Without first establishing safety, the implementation of the five other principles will not be possible. Safety is the highest priority and must be established first. It does not matter which principle is focused on next, but all principles must be established in order to sustain a trauma informed environment.

Each of the principles are designed to help leaders transform their site into a trauma informed and responsive workplace. The principles work together and build upon one another to help lead your staff through trauma that may be occurring inside or outside of your site.
