Canvas Teacher FAQ

Why are all of my sections/students in one course?

Cross-listing is designed so that teachers can add assignments to all sections at once.

Here is how teachers can separate for grading and assignments:

  1. Grades --> View --> Filter --> Sections.

  2. On the right side "All Sections" - dropdown menu, choose the section you want to view.

  3. Assignments -->Assign to -->Choose section to assign work to

Can I assign separate modules or assignments to my different sections if they are in the same course?

You can create modules for each section/period. For example:

Period 1 (Module): --> all assignments are pushed just to this sectionAlgebra foundations.Solving equations & inequalities.Working with units.Linear equations & graphs.Forms of linear equations.Systems of equations.Inequalities (systems & graphs)

Period 2 (Module) --> all assignments are pushed just to this sectionAlgebra foundations.Solving equations & inequalities.Working with units.Linear equations & graphs.Forms of linear equations.Systems of equations.Inequalities (systems & graphs)

When you create the assignment, you choose from the dropdown menu which section or students to assign this work to.

OR...

Create Modules based on order of topics taught and push to periods/sections/students when ready.

OR...

Instead of modules, use links on the Home Page that link out to Period 1 assignments, Period 2 assignments
