All exterior doors remain locked during the school day.
Visitors must enter through the main entrance and check in at the secure vestibule.
A valid photo ID is required for all visitors. We use a digital sign-in system that checks visitors against the national sex offender registry and prints a photo badge that must be worn while on campus.
Staff wear district-issued ID badges at all times.
We conduct regular safety drills (e.g., fire drills, lockdown drills, etc.) throughout the school year in accordance with New York State requirements.
These drills help students and staff practice how to respond calmly, quickly, and safely in the event of a real emergency.
Teachers explain and model procedures in a developmentally appropriate way to help students feel informed and safe—not fearful.
If a visitor is on campus during a drill, they are expected to follow all directions and participate fully in the drill to maintain building-wide safety.
If a safety drill is in progress when you arrive, you may be asked to wait outside the building until the drill is complete. This ensures we follow all safety protocols consistently without interruptions.
Beyond our classroom learning spaces, staff are present at arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, recess (indoors/ outdoors) and hallway transitions to ensure student safety, build relationships with students and reinforce expectations.
Our playground and outdoor spaces are supervised by teachers and/or support staff who using language of our school-wide expectations (Respectful, Responsible, Safe & Kind) to guide safe play and problem-solving.
Student behavior is guided by our LEAD expectations: Be Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind.
We use proactive strategies and positive behavior instruction to help students build strong habits and make safe, responsible choices.
