Each spring, we begin the process of creating well-balanced class groupings for the following school year.
We consider many variables to include: academic needs, peer dynamics, and input from current teachers and support staff.
Families are welcome to share insight about their child’s learning needs by completing our annual insight survey, which typically is sent with our April or May school newsletter. This feedback helps inform decisions. Please know this process does not incude teacher requests. We are not able to honor specific teacher requests.
Final class placements are typically sent home with report cards on the last day of school.
First Day of School (Tuesday, September 2, 2025): Students should arrive ready to LEAD! Don’t forget a backpack, water bottle, and a positive attitude. Please send your child to school their regular way (i.e. school bus) on the first day. This reduces student confusion and helps your child build effective school routines.
Open House (Wednesday, August 27, 2025 | 4:30-6:30 p.m.): Come meet your child's teachers, visit classrooms, and get a feel for the building before school begins.
Kindercamp:
Our newest eaglets are invited to a special transition event in August! Families of registered kindergarteners may attend. For more information, click on the following web link: https://www.wccsk12.org/article/2307471
Kindergarten Readiness Tips
Starting school is a big step! We encourage families to help their child:
Practice opening containers, lunchboxes, and backpacks.
Recognize his/her name on labels and classroom materials.
Try bathroom routines independently.
Talk about how your child will get to and from school.

We offer optional enrichment clubs for students in certain grades, such as Announcement Club, PageTurners, Ski Club, and Chorus.
Clubs are held before (or after) school on specific days. Club sponsors send home schedules and details for sign-up.
Students may ride the early bus run or be dropped off by a parent depending on the club.
For after-school clubs, parent pickup is required.
Toys, stuffed animals, trading cards, and personal electronics (*like cell phones, smartwatches or handheld games) should stay at home unless a teacher or staff member communicates otherwise.
These items often cause disruptions to learning, increase the risk of social conflict or loss/damage, and are not necessary for school success.
If there is a special event (like Spirit Day or a class celebrations), the school will provide clear guidance about what’s allowed.
In alignment with New York State’s new policy, internet-enabled devices — including smartphones, smartwatches, and similar technology — must be off and away during the school day.
This statewide change is intended to support focused learning and reduce distractions. While we haven’t had major challenges with these devices at the elementary level, we’re working together to build strong, healthy tech habits early.

School Spirit
We can't hide our
eaglet and eagle pride!
Students are encouraged to show their Eaglet/Eagle pride by wearing maroon, gold, or official school spirit-wear.
Spirit Days take place every Friday and throughout the year—watch for announcements from your child’s teacher or the school's social media.
