Book Week

Book Week is a long-standing tradition across Australia, providing an opportunity for schools and libraries to celebrate literature and promote a love of reading among students. Each year a theme is announced by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA), inspiring a wide range of activities, displays, and events.

At our school, Book Week is one of the Library’s most anticipated annual events. Celebrations typically include:

• Book displays connected to the national theme.

• Creative activities and competitions that encourage engagement with stories.

• Dress-up parade, where students and staff bring much-loved book characters to life.

• Opportunities to showcase reading and share favourite books within our school community.

Book Week provides a dedicated time to highlight the value of reading, foster curiosity, and encourage students to develop a lifelong relationship with books. It is also a chance to recognise the creativity of authors and illustrators who enrich our lives with their work.

By celebrating Book Week every year, the Library continues to strengthen its role as a central hub for imagination, discovery, and the joy of reading.
