The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.
The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is available for all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 9, in government, independent, Catholic and home schools.
The Reading Challenge Starts on 28th February and it should be completed by 19th August.
There have been a few changes to the rules this year.
You can check these out for yourself at :
https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html
Here are some of the rules that have changed:
In an approved series on the PRC booklist, you can read any three books as PRC books. You can read up to five other books from the same series as Personal Choice books or "Free reads"
Anything you have read from August 31 2021 can be counted towards the 2022 PRC.
We have tried to make the selection of books easier for students and parents by colour coding books that are on the official PRC list.
K-2 Yellow Dots
Years 3 & 4 Purple Dots
Years 5-9 Brown or Orange Dots.
All K-6 students participate in the Challenge with the encouragement and assistance of the library and class teachers.
High School students complete the challenge independently with encouragement from library staff.
