Ben Davis University Scholar's 1st College Planning Night for Parents & Seniors was a HUGE success! Seniors & Parents received valuable information on the college planning process, timeline, applications, scholarships, and Federal aid which was then followed up by a presentation on financial planning from a representative form INVESTEd.

The weight room will be open after school until 5:30 PM on Wednesday August 16th. Students and staff will meet every Tuesday and Wednesday after school. Please arrange your own rides for 5:30 PM. See Mr. Blamo if you have any additional questions!

BDU staff member Connie Bleicher who is a retired English teacher and Instructional Coach from Perry Township did an amazing job breaking down the data on our English ISTEP+ students and working with the Chair of our ISTEP+English Committee Crista Carlino and members to put together individual plans for remediating and supporting our current ISTEP+ English failures. English teachers also planned curricular connections and support within their courses. Great Teamwork!

Chess Club kicked off on Gold club day in Mr. Christianson's class on Friday August 18th. Scholars had fun putting their brains to work.

BDU Student Ambassadors planned a special event to show our appreciation for the Wayne Township Transportation Department and Bus Drivers this year! Students made a banner and all signed it to greet the drivers in the afternoon before sharing some special words with each driver and presenting them with a thank you note and gift card. They loved it and we are very thankful for EVERYTHING that they do for us!

Ben Davis University High School is very excited to share our confirmed numbers for the Class of 2017 graduates!
Ben Davis University High School is very excited to share our confirmed numbers for the Class of 2017 graduates!
With a 100% of our 116 graduates receiving a Core 40 High School Diploma as well as 81 graduates received an Academic and Technical Honors Diploma, we were also very proud to recognize 105 of our 116 Graduates who obtained a full Associate Degree and another 6 graduates who obtained a Certificate of Graduation by earning the 30 hour college-credit transferable core. All of our graduates earned over 48 college credits and we are very proud of their hard work and effort!

BDU's Peer Tutoring Program under the direction of VU Learning Coach Jane Hunckler kicked off Thursday, August 9th with not only well trained tutor volunteers in every subject area, but also a listing of availability and courses they specialize in to offer our students! This combined with our Vincennes University Tutors and access to VU Learning Coaches directly really allow BDU to create a college-going culture where students can seek out support!

This combined with our Vincennes University Tutors and access to VU Learning Coaches directly really allow BDU to create a college-going culture where students can seek out support!
BDU Staff had a great professional development morning during the week of august 6-12 that allowed all of our certified staff and paraprofessionals to review our students receiving special support from Sped/IEP services, ENL/IIP services, and 504 services. Not only were these teacher leaders phenomenal in providing us with valuable resources, but they also allowed us to better understand the perspective of these students in need through videos and activities. Our small school environment is key to individualizing support and our small staff and morning time allow us to work altogether to ensure we are providing those supports!

Earlier this month State representative Andre Carson tweeted "Proud to see #Indy included in @Sprint's #1MillionProject- a program that gives students free devices & service to help w/homework." We are glad to announce that our school has been selected under Sprint's One Million Project & each qualified student who is selected will receive a MIFI device with 3G of data.
