Dear Parents,
As we move into May this week we want to remind you that we are working hard to provide engaging lessons for your children. School isn't out yet, so stick with us!
Our tip for this week is: Keep distractions at a minimum.
Greatschools.org shares ways to help keep distractions at bay in an article titled 5 ways to help your child focus. The article cites these five tips.
Get the Ya-Yas out first: moving the body motivates the brain so have your child do stretches or jumping jacks before sitting down to do schoolwork.
Turn off screens and cell phones: this one might sound tricky, however, if you have someone at home who is watching tv or on a video game while your child is trying to do schoolwork, it may be too distracting for your child.
Make a to-do list: help your child prioritize their work into a daily list.
Use signals: try to avoid conversations while your child is working use signals instead.
Take breathers: take breaks during school work. Visit the Bucket List Challenge page and select some activities from there. Try to complete a BINGO this week.
You are doing great. Hang in there!
