End Of Year Check-out Procedures and Schedule

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have had quite a year this year, but it is time to wind down the school year. We still miss your student and the hustle and bustle of all of the students in the hallways. I know that this time has been very challenging for many families and hope that as the school year ends we can all reflect back on the many positive things that the students were engaged in throughout the year. You have amazing children and we have enjoyed having the privilege of teaching them this year.

School Work:

Just so that you are aware, this week is the last week of ‘new’ school material. Monday, May 11-Friday May 15 will be used for students to finish up and submit any missing assignments they have for this trimester. We are asking that student work be submitted to teachers by Friday, May 15th so that teachers can get all of the grades updated by Monday, May 18th. Final grades will be available to view on Tuesday, May 19th.

Returning/picking up items:

The following dates and times have been given to return supplies and checkout of school. Please do your best to follow this schedule by the first letter of your last name. We will offer one afternoon and evening slot on one of the days to accommodate parents that are working during the day. When you arrive at the school please follow the directional signs and stay in your vehicle. Multiple stations will be set up in front of the school to pick-up/drop-off items. We are still required to practice social distancing so please help us in our efforts to keep everyone safe.

Check-in items include:

  • Chromebooks and power cords (please have it charged to return it)

  • Band and orchestra instruments

  • Library books

  • Books on loan from teachers

  • Any other items students have borrowed that need to be turned back into the school

We will also hand back the following:

  • PE clothes

  • Student binders from classes

  • Art projects

  • Student class work

  • Recognition and award certificates

  • Yearbooks

  • Spring Pictures

Again, thank you for the privilege we have had helping to educate your child this year!

Weekly Message

April 20-24

Dear parent/guardian,

It is with sadness that this email is sent to you as we have learned that we will not be having students back in the school this academic year. We still miss the students so much!

We will still be teaching remotely through the end of this school year, though. Teachers are still working hard to adapt their lessons to remote learning platforms. We appreciate your patience as we have built out lessons online and also appreciate the feedback that many of you have provided on the Remote Learning Survey that was emailed home on Monday, April 13. The survey was set up as anonymous, so if there are things that you identified as needs or help with please reach out to counselors and teachers.

Thanks to all of you for all that you are doing at home to support teachers and our school at this time. We understand that this is not the way anyone anticipated the end of this school year going and that so many parents, students, teachers and community members are working hard to make the best out of a very challenging situation.

In the coming weeks we will send out information about the collection of school supplies that are in homes (Chromebooks, instruments, library books, etc.) and distribution of student items that are here at the school.

In the interim, please encourage your students to stay safe and do the Quarantine Bucket List Challenge to help them develop or refine skills while keeping boredom at bay.

Our thoughts are with you and the students!

April 6-9

Hello students and parents!

We are moving into week 3 of this new school format. I'm still missing so much of what the traditional school day includes (smiling faces, high-fives between classes, joining classes and seeing what is being learned), but we are still hard at work at the school doing our best to teach and connect with you.

We had our first Bucket List Challenge Bingo last week and want to thank all of you that participated! Get the new Bingo card and remember to do this week's challenges!

We are going to start having the teachers include some basic, new concepts into their online learning. Communicate with them and let them know how it goes as we begin to add new components into your learning.

Be safe out there! If you need something or know of someone who does please reach out to the school so that we can help take care of them.

Good morning parents and students!

We are beginning our second week of the new school processes. We are very aware that every family situation is different and doing our best to meet the needs of all of our students and parents.

A couple of tips about successful electronic learning:

*ON-LINE LEARNING LINK - We are trying to reduce the number of emails that you have been receiving. Make sure you are checking this website regularly at least once a week.

*TIS BUCKET LIST CHALLENGE - We also wanted to make you aware of our TIS Bucket List Challenge. We’ve created this challenge for both teachers and students in an attempt to stay active academically, socially, and emotionally and to connect with each other during this time apart. Each week we will post a new BINGO card with suggestions of activities in seven different categories: Literacy, Health/Fitness, Relationships, Hands-on, Creativity, Service, and Mindfulness. The challenge is to complete a BINGO (either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) each week and share it with us. You can take pictures or record your activity and share them with us when you send in your form to enter your name in our weekly drawing, or post them on social media using #TISBucketListChallenge. We are excited to begin checking off items from our Bucket Lists and watching as you do the same. You can find more information in the attached documents or in the links provided below. We encourage entire families to get together and do these challenges!

*SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING - Take advantage of the Social and Emotional Learning lessons found on this website. Counselors will post a new lesson each week for our students, as well as other beneficial information. These lessons provide ideas for students and their families to consider throughout the week.

*LUNCH - We want to make sure that all of our students are getting food during this difficult time, so we have broken down the maps by location to help parents find stops easier which can be found on the "District Information" page. We are worried that some families may not have access to computers and email, so please share this information via social media, or word of mouth, if you know of families in that situation. Use the hashtags #Feedourtishawks and #notishawkgoeshungry to get the word out. You can also reach out to our school counselors if there are families that you are worried about.

Please let your student know how much they are missed in the hallways and classes of Tonaquint. Remember during these unique times to be patient, be kind, and stay hopeful! We will get through this and are looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks for all your efforts during this time. Please reach out using the contact links below if you have a need.
